Alex first became known world wide when he was in the band The Calling, a contemporary rock band with members Alex Band and Aaron Kamin.
Their first album was entitled Camino Palmero. It was named after the street where Alex grew up.
It was an extremely successful album which reached a global audience.
In April 2002 Alex came to Australia with The Calling, and their song Wherever You Will Go became a top 5 ARIA hit in Australia.
'Wherever you will go' achieved gold plus status and hit the top 5 sales chart.It reached the #1 airplay position
in the country and maintained that for four weeks.
The next single to be released in Australia was 'Adrienne' which became a Music Network premiere pick.
While in Australia, Alex appeared in concert at The Metro in Sydney, performed at Fox Studios and appeared on many Australian
tv shows, these included: The Panel, Good Morning Australia, Big Arvo, MTV Australia, The Drum, Sunrise, and Off the Air, ABC.
Everyone loved the band performances and were most impressed with Alex's voice.

Camino Palmero was among the top 20 on the ARIA chart and was no.1 on the Alternative Charts and sold over Gold. The band won the affection of Australian media and fans.
In 2003 The Calling were nominated for an APRA award 2003 Music Award (Australian Performing Rights Association) The nomination was for the 'Most Performed Foreign Work' category.
For Camino Palmero, Alex and Aaron had written over one hundred songs and cut back to 11 for the CD.
In 2003, Alex had an opportunity to record and perform the number 1 hit single "Why Don't You and I?" with Carlos Santana.
The Calling's music has been featured in films such as "Coyote Ugly", "Daredevil", "Sweet Home Alabama", and "Love Actually". They were named 'Best New Act' at the MTV European Music Awards, and the single "Adrienne" was voted 'Best New Rock Song' at the Teen Choice Awards.
In 2004, Alex had a small part in an independent film, "A Fish Without a Bicycle" with Jennifer Skye (who is now his wife).
The song 'Take Hold of Me' was written and performed by Alex in this film.
The most recent album 'Two' was released all over the world and demonstrated their artistic maturity.
Several tracks on Two were collaborated by the BMG Chairman and CEO, Clive Davis.
The ultimate theme of 'Two' was one of hope and love. The first song to be released from this album 'Our Lives'
made a very big impact on people an upbeat song with a positive message - (read some of the comments made in Australia
HERE . It was played in the U.S.A at the closing of the Olympic Games! It was also
used as a theme for a TV Show.
We are all very much anticipating the next solo album by Alex which he is currently working on!!

He appeared in some of his Dad's movies as a child
He came to Australia with The Calling in April 2002 for a promotional tour and says that he would love to tour again in Australia.
He is married to acress Jennifer Skye
He and Jennifer have two cats, six and Parigi
Has been signed as a solo artist by Ron Fair and will soon be releasing his first album under Geffen Records.
